Grounded with Stanley Hood (068 mix)

Born and raised near Portsmouth, Stanley Hood has been djing for 8 years and has loved every second of it. Now residing in East London and studying at Point Blank Music School he is trying to grow as a DJ/Producer in the UK's capital city. His musical talents spread across the board with an interest in Disco, Soul, and Reggae, but his real passion lies in House and Minimal sounds.

"When mixing, i like things to feel real and not too perfect as i like to know the DJ is working and ensuring the mix stays nice and smooth. The odd imperfections sometimes make it for me."

- Stanley Hood

What style of mix have you gone for?
I've gone for a groovy, deep, House/Minimal mix. It's an hour journey of smooth chuggin' beats.

What DJs have inspired your sound?
I like quick short mixes and also long mixes blending two tracks. The Martines Brothers are great at the quick blends and the long blends. I also look to Kerri Chandler, Carl Cox and other OG's for mix inspiration.

What’s your favourite part of the mix?
My Favourite part of the mix is the opening track. Driving percussion and drums and a groovy chuggy bass!

What do you miss the most about raving?
I miss the dancefloor moments with strangers and friends when your all on the same wave and enjoying the music as one.

What have you learnt from the pandemic?
To not overthink things. If thats life decisions or when making music. Things happen for a reason. Take time and ensure its perfect.

Do you have any 2021 goals you are happy to share with readers?
I self released my first track which i was happy with. Big step forward and a boost in confidence. Also the events i have coming up are amazing and i'm grateful for being involved.

If you could teach our planet one thing, what would it be?
To take care of each other and ensure everyone is happy and safe. No one should suffer.

And finally, what makes the perfect B2B?
The perfect B2B would be a 2/3 hour set, with your mate, playing tracks you both love and your just vibing and having fun. Thats what its all about.
