Kicking off the GROUNDED mix series for 2021 is Kent based DJ, PEAGS. We caught up with him to find out more about his sound, how the pandemic has changed things for him, and his goals for the new year.
What style of mix have you gone for?
I’ve gone for minimal house mix with a lot of groove. Skippy hats, swooping pads and groovy punching basslines make this mix glue together.
What DJs have inspired your sound?
I’m not fixed to one sound. I love playing minimal house, tech house, disco etc. It depends what mood I’m in, but more recently the likes of east end dubs, Rossi, ANOTR, Acid kids, BADEO etc have to payed a big part in my sound.
What’s your favourite part of the mix?
The build at 24:00 onwards in to the drop is my favourite part of the mix, it makes you feel good and has great vibes.
How has the pandemic affected you?
Before the pandemic I was playing around different London clubs and got a couple residencies trying to get my name out there. When it all came to a stop it was a big shock! No one knew the impact it would have on everyone. Hopefully we can all get back in the rave and dance again soon.
Has your style changed during lockdown?
My style hasn’t changed, but I’m trying out new elements which we may hear one day!
What do you think clubbing will look like in 2021?
I really have no idea! I can only hope it goes back to the way it used to be, but if things were to change I know that the ravers, promotors and artists will unite and make the best of any situation.
What’s your top tip for surviving lockdown?
My top tip for surviving lockdown is to stay active and keep yourself busy!
Do you have any 2021 goals you are happy to share?
My goal for 2021 is to hopefully carry on where I left off if things go back to normal! I can’t wait to control the dance floor again and make people dance.
