We're back with week 2 of our GROUNDED mix series for 2021 with BOOTZ. Based in Nottingham, he is used to having residencies across bars and clubs in the midlands. We caught up with him to discuss how things have changed for him over the past year, and his musical background!
What style of mix have you gone for?
This mix is a blend of jazz house.
What DJs have inspired your sound?
Playing the saxophone and clarinet I’ve always had a thing for a jazz from a young age, Bellaire was the one who brought back my passion for it.
What’s your favourite part of the mix?
The drums in the track at 26:30 minutes.
How has the pandemic affected you?
I was DJing full time before it struck so it’s been pretty tough having my weekly residencies stop, but I can’t wait to get back to it.
Have you changed at all during lockdown?
It’s given me a wake up call that my lifestyle wasn’t the best. I’ve been one of the good eggs and cracked on with exercise and healthy eating and lost 10kg.
What do you think clubbing will look like in 2021?
Hopefully it will be no different, fingers crossed!
What’s your top tip for surviving lockdown?
Stay as busy as possible.
Do you have any 2021 goals you are happy to share?
Start up my own events company! Stay tuned...
