Joining us this week is London based DJ and producer Jamie Card. Specialising in minimal and deep house, you can find him regularly playing for Solace Sounds. Also co-owner of Sunday Selects, a bi-weekly radio show running on House 559 Music, Jamie is making waves in the music scene. We caught up with Jamie to find out how his love deep house paved the way to start mixing and his ideal party spot!
What style of mix have you gone for? I've actually thrown in 2 style of house I love, which is what I usually do in my mixes. I've started off with some deep spacey type tracks to warm the mix which I love and then picked up the pace into some more funky minimal vibes packed with groove and disco influences.
What made you start mixing? When I started going to festivals back in 2012 was the hot creations deep house days which made me fall in love with the scene and is what I still take inspiration from today. From then I got decks and started mixing.
What's your favourite part of the GROUNDED mix? The mix has loads of unreleased music from myself, friends and thriving artists on the scene at the moment (Kas, Louis White, Rhys The Kid, Yogi P, Artmann, Paddy Lee, Mehlor) and they're scattered throughout so hard to pick a favourite part. But from 20 mins in, I up the tempo and bring in one of my own tracks which is where I think the mix gets really starts to get groovy.
If you could throw a party anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? I recently got back from travelling around SE Asia and the scene in Bali right now is thriving and some of the venues are unbelievable looking over there sea. Everyone is on such a good vibe I think it would be an amazing place to throw a party!
