Mallin is a talent emerging through a burgeoning Midlands house scene. As a respected audio engineer, his productions blend undoubted technical prowess with soulfully organic flavours. With releases on labels like the famed Glasgow Underground, Stockholm based Oh! Records and a consistent role in the Hungarian Hot Wax crew - his music has been supported far and wide from house and techno legends like Laurent Garnier, to emerging talents like Kreutziger in the PIV camp and recently Toddla T on BBC Radio. Mallin joins us this week with an hour long mix of underground sounds and exclusive beats. We spoke with him to find about playing music at a young age and his love for Amsterdam.
What style of mix have you gone for?
A blend of soulful Deep House & Sultry Minimal beats. Featuring tracks from established artists and hot up and comers on labels I’m really feeling at the moment. I feel it’s good to stray away from the top sellers and to really dig deep, this is when you’ll come across some absolute gems. This mix also includes some exclusive unreleased Mallin tracks which can’t be heard anywhere else. I can’t WAIT to get them out there!
What made you start mixing?
I used to love creating music & mashups from a young age (around 11 years old) so the natural next step for me to take was to buy some decks and learn the craft. 12 years on and I’ve since held 2 residency’s abroad & played some really cool parties, and hopefully many more to come after all the restrictions are lifted.
What's your favourite part of your GROUNDED mix?
It’s always a such a proud feeling when you play a track that you’ve spent so much time creating, so I have to say when I dropped 5 of my tracks in this mix it was a crazy feeling! The tracks are:
Ryan Nicholls - What I Wana (Mallin Remix)
Tom Caruso - Ready (Mallin Remix)
Mallin, Sam Dexter, Tokio, Alex Cooksley - Chilli Jam
Giulio Cadri - Make It Hot (Mallin Remix)
Sam Dexter - Real Love (Mallin Remix)
If you could throw a party anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
AMSTERDAM. Without a doubt, I love the sound the Dutch Artists & DJ’s are putting out at the minute so that ones a no brainier. It’s also my favourite city in the world so that’s just a bonus!
